About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Product Development Engineer to contribute to their innovative projects based in Stellenbosch . This role involves taking new product concepts from ideation through to market launch, with a strong emphasis on mechanical design and system integration. You will work closely with R&D, marketing, and manufacturing teams to ensure products meet technical specifications, market needs, and quality standards.
This is a hybrid position offering a blend of on-site collaboration and remote work, ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a dynamic, cross-functional environment and is passionate about bringing cutting-edge products to life within the picturesque Western Cape .
- Lead the mechanical design and development of new products from concept to mass production.
- Conduct feasibility studies, performance simulations, and prototyping for new product concepts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and industrial designers.
- Oversee component selection, material specification, and vendor qualification.
- Develop and execute comprehensive product testing plans to ensure reliability and performance.
- Troubleshoot design issues and implement solutions throughout the product lifecycle.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in product development and mechanical design.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAE tools such as Solid Works, Fusion 360, or similar.
- Experience with various manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, CNC machining).
- Strong understanding of materials science and product testing methodologies.
