Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Drilling Fluids Engineer for a fully remote position, supporting operations across various locations including those near East London. This role is essential for the effective management and optimization of drilling fluid systems to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective well construction. You will provide technical expertise on fluid properties, recommend appropriate fluid formulations, and oversee fluid performance on drilling rigs.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of drilling fluid chemistry, rheology, and solid control systems, and be adept at remote technical support and problem-solving for drilling operations anywhere they may be deployed, contributing to project success from anywhere.
- Design, recommend, and manage drilling fluid systems tailored to specific well objectives and geological conditions.
- Monitor fluid performance on drilling rigs, analyze data, and provide on-site or remote technical support.
- Troubleshoot drilling fluid related issues such as lost circulation, formation damage, and wellbore instability.
- Ensure fluid properties meet technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Manage inventory and logistics for drilling fluid materials and equipment.
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations for fluid programs and operational improvements.
- Stay updated on new technologies and best practices in drilling fluid engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or Mud Engineer.
- Strong knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, rheology, hydraulics, and solids control.
- Experience with various drilling fluid systems (water-based, oil-based, synthetic-based).
- Familiarity with drilling operations and their interaction with fluid systems.
