About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly innovative Remote Automotive Performance Engineer to join their advanced engineering team, operating entirely remotely, with ties to Pretoria . You will be at the forefront of developing and optimizing vehicle performance systems, including engine management, powertrain control, and vehicle dynamics. This role demands a strong analytical mind, deep expertise in automotive engineering principles, and the ability to translate complex data into tangible performance improvements.
Working remotely, you will collaborate with a global team of experts, contributing to the development of high-performance vehicles and leveraging cutting‑edge simulation and testing tools to achieve breakthrough results, all without the need for physical office presence.
- Develop and calibrate engine control units (ECUs) and powertrain control modules (PCMs) for optimal performance and efficiency.
- Analyze vehicle dynamics data to identify areas for improvement in handling, braking, and acceleration.
- Utilize simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) to model and test performance strategies.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure performance targets are met.
- Conduct remote testing and validation of software updates and performance enhancements.
- Advanced degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
- Significant experience in automotive performance engineering , including calibration and tuning.
- Proficiency in engine simulation and modeling tools, such as MATLAB/Simulink.
- Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, hybrid powertrains, and vehicle dynamics.
- Experience with data acquisition systems and performance analysis.
