About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Mine Geologist with expertise in resource estimation to join their team near Kimberley. This role is critical for accurately quantifying mineral resources and reserves, providing the foundation for mine planning and economic evaluation. You will work with geological, drilling, and assay data to build robust geological models and apply appropriate estimation techniques. The ideal candidate is proficient in geological modeling software and possesses a strong understanding of geostatistics.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a key aspect of the mining value chain, working within a collaborative environment focused on accurate and reliable resource definition.
- Develop and validate geological block models using geological data, including drill holes, logging, and assays.
- Apply geostatistical methods (e.g., kriging, simulation) to estimate mineral resources and reserves.
- Perform sensitivity analyses and uncertainty assessments related to resource estimates.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports documenting resource estimation methodologies and results, adhering to industry standards (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
- Collaborate closely with mine planning engineers, geologists, and external consultants.
- Stay current with advancements in geological modeling and resource estimation software and techniques.
- Master's degree in Geology, Geostatistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in resource estimation for diamond or other mineral commodities.
- Proficiency with geological modeling and resource estimation software (e.g., Leapfrog Geo, Datamine, Snowden Suite, Isatis).
- Solid understanding of geostatistical principles and their practical application.
- Experience in data quality control and validation.
- Excellent analytical, report writing, and communication skills.
