Mechanical Engineer - HVAC Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized Mechanical Engineer with a focus on HVAC systems to join their team in Sandton . This role involves the design, installation, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for commercial and industrial applications. You will be responsible for ensuring optimal system performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with all relevant codes and standards. • Design HVAC systems, including load calculations, equipment selection, and ductwork/piping layout.
• Prepare detailed HVAC drawings, specifications, and control sequences for new installations and retrofits.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of HVAC systems, ensuring adherence to design and quality standards.
• Conduct site inspections and diagnose issues with existing HVAC systems, recommending appropriate solutions.
• Optimize system performance for energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
• Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and project managers throughout the project lifecycle.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience specifically in HVAC system design and application.
• In-depth knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and psychrometrics.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., Revit MEP, AutoCAD) and energy modeling tools.
• Familiarity with relevant building codes and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE).
