Senior Electrical Engineer – Production Equipment

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to oversee the electrical systems of production equipment throughout its lifecycle. This role is vital to supporting maintenance activities, project executions, and troubleshooting efforts, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing assets.
Responsibilities:
Act as the electrical expert for production equipment, supporting engineering and modification projects, including small adjustments to existing systems and the integration of new equipment.
Provide troubleshooting support during equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
Oversee electrical safety standards and ensure all activities comply with Dutch regulations, including NEN 3140.
Review equipment qualifications and define roles and responsibilities for electrical safety within projects.
Collaborate with external vendors to review electrical safety aspects of machinery.
Support the planning and execution of maintenance, modifications, and upgrades, managing the entire equipment lifecycle.
Conduct and follow up on electrical safety inspections, including periodic NEN 3140/NEN-EN-IEC 60204-1 inspections, testing, and documentation.
Manage personnel appointments and qualifications within the maintenance and engineering team per NEN 3140 standards.
Provide second-line technical support for complex electrical issues faced by shopfloor technicians.
Participate in cross-functional teams for project deployment, asset upgrades, and safety improvements.
Prepare test protocols, technical evaluations, and assessment reports as required.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in an operational or manufacturing environment.
Proven experience as an appointed Installation Responsible Person (IV) under NEN 3140.
Strong practical knowledge of NEN-EN-IEC 60204-1 and Dutch electrical safety laws and standards.
Hands‑on experience supporting production equipment and troubleshooting electrical issues.

Experience with project management, especially CAPEX projects, is advantageous.
Fluent in Dutch; good English communication skills are essential.
Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
Other Information:  The role is fully onsite with occasional opportunities to work from home. Candidates should ideally live within approximately one hour of Breda or be willing to relocate within the Netherlands. The position may require supporting emergency breakdowns, with some work outside regular hours.
