Remote GIS Specialist - Mine Planning

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Remote GIS Specialist to support their mine planning and resource management initiatives. This role is essential for creating and maintaining accurate spatial data that underpins critical decisions in mine development and operations. You will work closely with geologists, engineers, and environmental teams to visualize, analyze, and manage geographic information crucial for optimizing extraction processes and ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Develop, manage, and update spatial databases using GIS software.
• Create detailed maps, plans, and visualizations for mine planning, exploration, and environmental monitoring.
• Perform spatial analysis to support resource estimation, pit design, and infrastructure planning.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and adherence to industry standards.
• Provide technical support and training on GIS tools to project teams.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders and regulatory bodies on spatial data requirements.

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in GIS analysis and management, ideally within the mining industry.
• Proficiency with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar.
• Experience with spatial databases (e.g., PostGIS) and data formats.
• Strong understanding of geological concepts and mine operations.
