About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly experienced and proactive Chemical Process Safety Engineer to join their globally distributed team. This is a fully remote position, enabling you to contribute vital safety expertise from anywhere. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all our operations, identifying potential hazards, and developing robust mitigation strategies. Your role will involve conducting rigorous safety assessments, developing safety protocols, and promoting a strong safety culture within the organization.
This position requires a deep understanding of chemical process hazards and regulatory requirements, with a commitment to safeguarding personnel and assets.
- Lead and conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Develop and implement site-specific process safety management (PSM) programs.
- Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
- Provide expert guidance on the safe design and operation of chemical processes and equipment.
- Develop and deliver safety training to engineering and operational staff.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience focused on process safety in the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and practices (e.g., OSHA PSM).
- Proven experience conducting various types of Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs).
- Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and risk assessment methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, suitable for a remote role.
