Are you an experienced Senior Building Performance Consultant or Building Physicist with extensive commercial experience using IES Virtual Environment (IES VE) and ApacheHVAC?

Talent is recruiting for a Senior Building Performance Consultant to join a specialist UK consultancy working across building performance, energy efficiency, building physics and decarbonisation.
This is a fully remote, home-based role, offering a salary of up to £45,000, flexible working hours and the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of new-build and existing building projects throughout the UK.
ApacheHVAC Experience is EssentialCommercial ApacheHVAC experience is a mandatory requirement for this position.
Candidates must have hands-on experience delivering commercial projects using the ApacheHVAC module within IES VE.
While extensive IES VE experience is also required, IES VE experience without ApacheHVAC project delivery will not be sufficient for this vacancy.
The RoleAs a Senior Building Performance Consultant, you will work directly with clients and multidisciplinary design teams, providing technical advice to improve the energy, carbon and internal environmental performance of buildings.
Projects range from individual assets and residential developments through to larger, complex non-domestic buildings across the UK.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Dynamic thermal simulation modelling using IES VE
- Building services and HVAC modelling using ApacheHVAC
- Thermal comfort and overheating assessments
- Operational energy and carbon assessments
- Heating and cooling load calculations
- Supporting Net Zero and building performance strategies
- Reviewing building drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Advising clients and design teams on opportunities to improve building performance
- Managing your own projects and workload
- Liaising directly with clients and external project teams
- Producing high-quality technical reports and recommendations
- Undertaking occasional site visits and surveys where required
- Supporting wider business development activities
This is a senior technical position suited to someone with strong building physics, IES VE and ApacheHVAC expertise who is comfortable taking ownership of projects.
Essential requirements include:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience within the UK construction or built environment sector
- A minimum of 5 years’ commercial experience using IES VE
- Commercial project delivery experience using ApacheHVAC – ESSENTIAL
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering, architectural or scientific discipline
- Experience undertaking thermal comfort assessments
- Operational energy and carbon assessment experience
- Heating and cooling load calculation experience
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems used within UK buildings
- Strong understanding of building physics and relevant scientific principles
- Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations and planning requirements
- Understanding of how buildings are constructed, from foundations through to fit‑out
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence working directly with clients and multidisciplinary design teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams and AutoCAD
Additional experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
- Low Carbon Energy Assessor (LCEA) accreditation
- Non-Domestic Energy Assessor (NDEA) accreditation
- Part L / Section 6 compliance modelling
