Title Water Resources Specialist

Consor in Toronto is looking for well-qualified and motivated Water Resources Specialist to further build on our already growing and diverse environmental and engineering consulting business in Canada. In the role, you will work with a highly collaborative team to advance challenging and meaningful projects across multiple market sectors including municipal infrastructure, aggregate and metal mining, power generation and transmission, and land development.

As part of this, use your skills and expertise to contribute to client deliverables through field assessments, desktop-based analyses and modelling exercises, conceptual / detailed design and technical reporting. Projected Compensation: $55,000 - $105,000/year CAD

• Support a wide range of project work and proposal pursuits with a focus on water resources:
  • Baseline characterization studies, effects assessments, and water management analyses to support environmental assessments and other development planning initiatives.
  • Modelling assessments to support the design and implementation of development works, including stormwater management plans, floodplains and flood mitigation, and industrial and mining water management plans.
  • Conceptual and detailed design.
  • Water-related permitting and regulatory approval activities.
  • Environmental monitoring and inspections during construction.
• Implement desktop-based analyses that involve hydrologic and hydraulic modelling analyses, climate change analyses, compilation and interpretation of water quality and hydrometric data, and hydrotechnical and hydrogeological modelling investigations (to assess surface water and groundwater flow, interaction, availability, etc.).
• Contribute to technical reports, proposals, and other key client deliverables.

• Up to 5 years of consulting or industry-related experience, with demonstrated strengths in communication (including technical writing and presentations), problem-solving, project delivery, and collaboration. Recent graduates and candidates nearing completion of relevant undergraduate or graduate programs are encouraged to apply.
• University or equivalent education in the hydrotechnical disciplines (ideally a
  
  B.Eng., M.Eng., or M.Sc.) with associated professional credentials (P.Eng. or P.Geo.) or the eligibility to register with PEO or PGO.
• Strong understanding of water resources engineering principles, hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality.
• Experience with hydrology and hydraulic analyses, hydrotechnical and hydrogeological modelling applications, water-related monitoring and field programs, water management planning and design work, environmental assessment and regulatory permitting activities, and environmental statistics and related data analyses.
• Familiarity or proficiency with industry standard surface water and groundwater modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Visual OTTHYMO, SWMM, HY-8, MODFLOW, FEFLOW), applied statistics, and data management tools, and ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and/or Civil3D.
• Working knowledge of Canadian planning, engineering and environmental legislation, policies and regulatory approval processes.
• Valid Ontario driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
