Junior Civil Engineer - Roads and Stormwater

About the Role

Our client is looking for a motivated Junior Civil Engineer to join their team in Durban , focusing on the design and implementation of roads and stormwater management systems. This hybrid role offers the best of both worlds, combining focused work from home with essential in-person collaboration and site visits. You will work closely with senior engineers, contributing to project planning, design development, and construction supervision.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience in municipal infrastructure projects and develop a strong foundation in civil engineering principles within a supportive team environment.

• Assist in the design of road networks, including geometric design, pavement design, and traffic control measures.
• Contribute to the design of stormwater drainage systems , including culverts, channels, and detention ponds.
• Prepare technical drawings, calculations, and reports under the supervision of senior engineers.
• Participate in site inspections and construction monitoring to ensure quality and adherence to designs.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and local authorities as directed by the project manager.
• Conduct research and apply relevant engineering standards and best practices to project work.

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Elegibility for professional registration with ECSA.
• 0-3 years of relevant post-graduate experience in civil engineering, preferably with exposure to roads and/or stormwater.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software.
• Good understanding of South African infrastructure standards and regulations.
• Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
