Project Engineer - Mechanical Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic Project Engineer specializing in Mechanical Systems to join their team in Cape Town . You will be instrumental in managing and executing mechanical engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves close collaboration with design teams, suppliers, and clients, requiring strong technical acumen and excellent project management skills.

• Oversee the entire lifecycle of mechanical engineering projects, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and execution.
• Coordinate with design engineers to ensure mechanical designs meet project specifications and performance requirements.
• Manage project budgets, track expenses, and implement cost-control measures effectively.
• Liaise with vendors and suppliers to procure necessary materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and quality compliance.
• Conduct site inspections and project progress reviews, identifying and mitigating potential risks and issues.
• Prepare and present regular project status reports to stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and next steps.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project engineering or project management within a mechanical engineering context.
• Proven experience managing complex mechanical projects, from initial concept through to commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, adept at stakeholder management.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and safety regulations in South Africa .
