Mechanical Design Engineer - Consumer Electronics

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on Consumer Electronics to join their dynamic team in Nelspruit . This role will involve the design and development of innovative mechanical aspects of consumer electronic products, ensuring they are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and manufacturable. You will work through the entire product development cycle, from concept generation to mass production, collaborating with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and supply chain partners.

• Design and develop mechanical components and enclosures for consumer electronic devices using 3D CAD software.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, reliability, and aesthetic appeal.
• Conduct tolerance analysis , stress simulations, and thermal management studies for electronic products.
• Collaborate closely with industrial designers to translate concepts into practical, manufacturable designs.
• Work with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and firmware developers, to ensure system integration.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation, drawings, and specifications for prototyping and mass production.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, specifically within the consumer electronics industry.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Creo) and experience with CAE tools.
• Strong understanding of plastic injection molding, metal stamping, and other relevant manufacturing processes.
• Experience with product development cycles for consumer electronics.
