About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Instrumentation Engineer to join their remote team, supporting operations primarily in the Port Elizabeth region and beyond. This role is essential for the calibration, maintenance, and implementation of measurement and control instrumentation within industrial processes. You will leverage your expertise to ensure the accuracy and reliability of critical systems, working from your home office with occasional site visits as required.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive engineer to contribute to operational excellence in a flexible, remote-first environment.
- Select, install, calibrate, and maintain various types of process instruments, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters.
- Develop and implement calibration procedures and standards to ensure instrument accuracy and reliability.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation issues, diagnose faults, and implement corrective actions to minimize process disruptions.
- Collaborate with automation engineers and operations teams to integrate instrumentation into control systems.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation, including P&IDs, loop diagrams, and calibration records.
- Research and recommend new instrumentation technologies to improve process efficiency and safety.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial instrumentation and control.
- Proficiency with various instrument types and manufacturers.
- Strong understanding of calibration techniques and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, 17025).
- Experience with industrial networks and communication protocols (e.g., HART, Fieldbus).
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and remote collaboration skills.
