About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent and experienced Mine Safety Inspector to join their operations team, primarily based in the Centurion area. This hybrid role requires a balance of on-site safety assessments and remote data analysis to ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in the mining sector. You will play a critical role in maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel, conducting thorough inspections, and developing preventative safety measures.
Your expertise will be vital in upholding the company's commitment to the highest safety standards, fostering a proactive safety culture through a combination of field presence and remote coordination, contributing to accident prevention and operational integrity within our mining endeavors.
- Conduct regular on-site inspections of mining operations to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs and procedures designed to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports with findings and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on safety protocols, hazard recognition, and the proper use of safety equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, training, and safety performance metrics, utilizing remote systems for reporting and analysis.
- Collaborate with management and operational teams to foster a strong safety culture and address any emerging safety concerns promptly.
- Certified Mine Safety Professional or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine safety inspection and regulatory compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of South African mining health and safety legislation and standards.
- Proficiency in safety management systems and data analysis software for reporting and trend identification.
- Strong observational skills, attention to detail, and excellent report-writing abilities .
- Ability to work effectively both independently on-site and remotely, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
