About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer with a specialization in mining applications to join their team. This role will involve assessing ground conditions and designing support systems to ensure the stability and safety of underground and open-pit mining operations. You will work closely with mine planners and geologists to provide critical geotechnical input throughout the project lifecycle. This hybrid position offers a blend of remote work flexibility and on-site engagement, allowing you to contribute expert analysis while maintaining a balanced work-life schedule.

You will be instrumental in mitigating geological risks and ensuring the integrity of mine structures, playing a vital role in the successful and secure operation of our mining projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations, including site assessments and laboratory testing.
  • Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to assess slope stability, tunneling conditions, and excavation support requirements.
  • Design and implement ground support systems for underground mines and open pits.
  • Develop geotechnical risk assessments and mitigation strategies for mining projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to site operations and project teams.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and recommendations based on geotechnical findings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mining Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on mining.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., Rocscience suite, Geo Studio).
  • Strong understanding of soil and rock mechanics principles and their application in mining.
  • Excellent analytical, report writing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to conduct site visits as needed.
