About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer specializing in automotive systems to join their dynamic team in Cape Town. - Design, develop, and test mechanical components and systems for automotive applications, focusing on areas such as powertrain, chassis, or thermal management.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Solid Works) to create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and assemblies.
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), to validate designs and predict performance under various conditions.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are optimized for production feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
- Document design changes, test results, and project progress meticulously in engineering reports.
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings to discuss project status, resolve technical challenges, and ensure alignment on project goals.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design and development, preferably within the automotive sector.
- Proficiency with industry-standard CAD and CAE tools is essential.
- Solid understanding of automotive systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations and analyze simulation results accurately.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in both individual and team settings.
