About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Distributed Generation Engineer to join their innovative, remote-first team. This role is pivotal in the planning, design, and integration of distributed energy resources (DERs), including solar PV, battery storage, and microgrids, into the existing power infrastructure. You will work on cutting-edge projects that enhance grid resilience and promote sustainable energy solutions across various geographic locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and engineer distributed generation systems, including the technical specifications for solar PV, energy storage systems, and associated power electronics.
  • Perform grid interconnection studies, load flow analysis, and stability assessments for DER integration projects.
  • Develop project documentation, including single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and construction drawings.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams (project management, operations) and external stakeholders (utilities, regulatory bodies) in a virtual setting.
  • Ensure designs comply with all relevant codes, standards, and utility interconnection requirements.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in distributed energy resources and grid modernization.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field;
    Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a strong focus on distributed generation, solar PV, or energy storage.
  • Proficiency with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/SINCAL, PSCAD) and CAD tools.
  • Solid understanding of grid interconnection standards, utility regulations, and power system dynamics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, essential for effective remote collaboration .
  • Experience with microgrid design and control strategies is a significant advantage.
