Lead Thermal Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Lead Thermal Mechanical Engineer to join their specialized, remote-first engineering team, nominally based in Randburg . This senior role is dedicated to the design, analysis, and optimization of thermal management systems for complex products. You will leverage your deep expertise in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and mechanical design to solve challenging thermal problems and ensure optimal performance and reliability.

• Lead the design and development of advanced thermal management solutions for new and existing products.
• Perform detailed thermal analysis using simulation tools such as CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and heat transfer modeling.
• Develop and execute test plans to validate thermal performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with mechanical design, electrical engineering, and product management teams to integrate thermal solutions effectively.
• Specify materials, components, and manufacturing processes relevant to thermal performance.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership in the field of thermal engineering.

• Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer.
• 8+ years of experience in thermal management system design and analysis.
• Expert proficiency in thermal simulation software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, STAR-CCM+).
• Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, fluid dynamics, and material properties.
• Experience with experimental validation of thermal designs.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills , with effective remote communication abilities.
