About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide expert remote support and analysis for their mining and infrastructure projects. This hybrid role allows for significant remote work, focusing on the evaluation of ground conditions, slope stability, and underground excavation stability. You will leverage advanced modeling techniques and geological data to provide critical recommendations for safe and efficient project execution.
Your expertise will be essential in assessing risks and ensuring the integrity of structures in challenging geological environments, contributing significantly from a remote base while maintaining essential on-site collaboration with project teams to ensure safety and project success in complex geotechnical endeavors.
- Perform detailed geotechnical analyses, including slope stability, seepage, and settlement analyses, using specialized software.
- Interpret geological and geotechnical investigation data, including borehole logs, CPT data, and laboratory test results.
- Develop geotechnical design recommendations for mine excavations, tailings dams, and other relevant structures.
- Conduct risk assessments related to geological hazards and provide mitigation strategies.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, design documentation, and technical specifications.
- Provide remote technical guidance and support to on-site engineering and construction teams, coordinating site visits as needed.
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on the mining or heavy civil construction industries.
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software such as PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and hydrogeology.
- Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing remote analysis with essential on-site consultations.
