Graduate Chemical Engineer - Safety

Our client is seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Graduate Chemical Engineer to join their Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team, working a hybrid model from Benoni . This role provides an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop expertise in industrial safety management and regulatory compliance within the chemical sector. You will assist in developing and implementing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture across the organization.

• Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
• Support the investigation of workplace accidents and near misses, recommending corrective actions.
• Assist in the preparation of safety training materials and conduct basic safety awareness sessions.
• Maintain EHS records and assist in regulatory reporting requirements.
• Participate in process hazard analyses (PHAs) and risk assessments.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• A strong interest and foundational knowledge in occupational health and safety principles.
• Excellent observational skills and a keen eye for detail regarding safety compliance.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for reporting and training.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with safety data sheets (SDS) and hazard communication is a plus.
