Senior Process Safety Engineer - Remote

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their established remote team. This role is critical for ensuring the safety and integrity of our chemical processing operations globally. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust process safety management systems, conducting risk assessments, and providing expert guidance to engineering and operational teams. This is a key position for a safety-focused professional who thrives in a remote work environment and can significantly contribute to preventing incidents and ensuring compliance across all facilities, including those in the Gauteng province.

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct thorough Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies, and ensure findings are actioned.
• Oversee incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
• Provide expert technical support and training on process safety principles and practices to engineers and operational staff.
• Review process designs and modifications to ensure safety is integrated from the early stages.
• Stay abreast of evolving process safety regulations and technologies, recommending updates to company standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience specifically in process safety engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, risk assessment methodologies, and safety engineering principles.
• Experience with relevant safety software and tools for risk analysis and management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
