Lead Mining Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Lead Mining Engineer to oversee operations in Cape Town, Western Cape . This senior position requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in mine planning, production management, and operational efficiency within the mining sector. You will lead a team of mining professionals, drive innovation in extraction techniques, and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.

• Develop and implement comprehensive mine plans, including short-term and long-term production schedules.
• Oversee daily mining operations, ensuring optimal resource utilization and adherence to quality standards.
• Manage and mentor a team of engineers, supervisors, and mine personnel, fostering a culture of safety and high performance.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects and expansions.
• Implement and monitor best practices in mine safety, health, and environmental management.
• Collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, and other stakeholders to achieve operational targets.

• BSc or BEng in Mining Engineering.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in underground or open-pit mining operations.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Expertise in mine planning software such as Deswik, Surpac, or similar.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in managing large operational teams.
• In-depth knowledge of mining regulations and best practices in South Africa .
