About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their fully remote team, contributing to diverse projects across various locations including remote areas near Nelspruit . This role involves providing expert geotechnical analysis, design recommendations, and site investigation strategies from a distance. You will leverage advanced software and your extensive knowledge to assess soil conditions, foundation designs, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques for a range of construction and mining projects.
The ability to work autonomously, communicate effectively across distances, and deliver precise, actionable insights is paramount for this position, supporting projects throughout Mpumalanga and beyond.
- Perform advanced geotechnical analyses, including slope stability, settlement, and bearing capacity calculations.
- Develop comprehensive geotechnical investigation plans and interpret borehole logs, CPT data, and other site investigation results.
- Provide detailed design recommendations for foundations (shallow and deep), retaining structures, and earthworks.
- Assess seismic hazards and design structures for earthquake resistance where applicable.
- Write clear and concise geotechnical reports and provide technical support to project teams remotely.
- Collaborate with project managers, geologists, and structural engineers via digital communication platforms.
- Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as Geo Studio (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W), Plaxis, or similar.
- Experience with remote project support and interpretation of geophysical data is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
