About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their global remote team. This role is vital for ensuring the stability and safety of mining structures, excavations, and waste disposal facilities. You will provide expert analysis and recommendations based on geological and soil mechanics data, contributing to the safe and efficient design and operation of mining projects worldwide, all from a remote location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform geotechnical investigations, including site characterization, laboratory testing interpretation, and data analysis.
  • Conduct stability analyses for open pits, underground excavations, tailings dams, and waste rock dumps.
  • Develop geotechnical design recommendations and specifications for mining structures and support systems.
  • Monitor ground conditions and performance of geotechnical structures, interpreting monitoring data.
  • Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with remote and on-site engineering, geology, and environmental teams to integrate geotechnical considerations.
Requirements
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering, with significant experience in the mining industry.
  • Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
  • Proficiency with geotechnical analysis software (e.g., FLAC, Slide, Geo Studio suite).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report writing skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate within a remote team structure.
