Energy Storage Systems Specialist

Our client is actively seeking a highly competent Energy Storage Systems Specialist to join their team on a fully remote basis, supporting their diverse operations including those around Stellenbosch . This role is critical in the design, development, and deployment of advanced energy storage solutions that are essential for stabilizing the grid and integrating intermittent renewable energy sources. You will leverage your technical expertise to evaluate, select, and implement battery and other storage technologies, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and economic viability.

• Design and specify energy storage systems (BESS) for various applications, including grid-scale, commercial, and industrial.
• Evaluate and select appropriate energy storage technologies, manufacturers, and components.
• Develop technical specifications, performance models, and integration plans for storage projects.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and performance monitoring of energy storage systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, electrical codes, and regulatory requirements for storage systems.
• Provide technical support and training to internal teams and external partners.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in the design, engineering, or deployment of energy storage systems .
• Strong understanding of battery chemistries, power electronics, and grid integration requirements for storage.
• Experience with energy management systems (EMS) and SCADA integration for storage projects.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and safety protocols for energy storage.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a remote team setting.
