Our client seeks a seasoned and forward-thinking Chief Surveyor for a fully remote position. This critical role involves providing leadership and technical oversight for all surveying activities across their global mining operations. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining precise survey control, managing data acquisition, and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all spatial information essential for mine planning, operations, and reporting.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep expertise in geomatics and surveying technologies, with a proven ability to manage remote teams and implement state-of-the-art surveying solutions.
- Develop and implement surveying strategies and standards for all company projects.
- Oversee the acquisition, processing, and management of all survey data, including topographic, boundary, and control surveys.
- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of survey data used for mine planning, design, and construction.
- Manage and mentor a team of remote surveyors and technicians.
- Evaluate and recommend new surveying technologies and equipment for adoption.
- Liaise with external survey consultants and regulatory bodies as required.
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in surveying, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the mining or construction industry.
- Extensive experience with modern surveying equipment and software (e.g., Total Stations, GNSS, LiDAR, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson).
- Strong understanding of geodetic principles and coordinate systems.
- Proven ability to manage remote teams and projects effectively.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
