Senior Metallurgical Engineer - Process Optimization
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Metallurgical Engineer to join their processing division in Sandton . This role focuses on optimizing metallurgical processes to enhance recovery, improve product quality, and reduce operating costs. You will conduct in-depth analysis of plant data, design and execute pilot trials, and implement process improvements. The position involves a combination of on-site plant engagement and remote data analysis, requiring a candidate with strong technical expertise and excellent problem-solving capabilities within the mineral processing industry.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze metallurgical plant performance data to identify opportunities for process optimization.
- Design, conduct, and interpret laboratory and pilot plant test work to validate process improvements.
- Develop and implement process modifications to enhance metal recovery, grade, and throughput.
- Troubleshoot operational challenges within the processing plant and provide technical solutions.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure effective implementation of process changes.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management review.
- Master s degree or Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in metallurgical processing, with a focus on optimization and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of mineral processing unit operations (e.g., comminution, flotation, leaching, solid-liquid separation).
- Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a systematic approach to process improvement.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across different departments.
