Remote Senior Metallurgist - Processing

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Metallurgist to join their dynamic team in a fully remote capacity, supporting operations that can be based anywhere within South Africa , including their Durban hub. This role focuses on optimizing mineral processing operations, ensuring maximum recovery and efficiency of valuable commodities. You will leverage your deep understanding of metallurgical principles and advanced processing technologies to solve complex challenges and drive innovation from a remote setting.

• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot mineral processing circuits (e.g., flotation, leaching, thickening).
• Conduct metallurgical test work and pilot plant trials to evaluate new process technologies.
• Analyze process data to identify areas for improvement in recovery, grade, and operational costs.
• Provide technical support and guidance to plant operations teams remotely.
• Prepare detailed metallurgical reports, including process design criteria and feasibility studies.
• Mentor junior metallurgists and contribute to knowledge sharing across the organization.

• Master's degree or PhD in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mineral processing and metallurgy.
• Proven expertise in specific commodities (e.g., gold, platinum, base metals).
• Proficiency with metallurgical simulation software (e.g., METSIM, JKSimMet).
• Excellent analytical, report writing, and remote communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects from a distance.
