Geotechnical Engineer - Major Projects

Our client is looking for a seasoned Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to their major project portfolio in Durban . You will be responsible for assessing ground conditions, providing foundation designs, and offering solutions for slope stability and earthworks for large-scale construction and infrastructure projects. This role demands a deep understanding of soil mechanics and the ability to manage complex geotechnical challenges from investigation through to construction support.

The successful candidate will join a leading consultancy renowned for its technical expertise and commitment to quality in the construction industry.

• Plan and conduct geotechnical investigations , including site reconnaissance, drilling, and sampling.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to develop foundation designs for buildings, bridges, and other structures.
• Assess and mitigate risks associated with slope stability, excavation, and tunneling.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, recommendations, and design drawings.
• Provide on-site construction supervision and technical support for geotechnical works.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies on geotechnical matters.

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Expertise in geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, Geo Studio) and site investigation techniques.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration is advantageous.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
