Senior Grid Integration Engineer

Our client is seeking an innovative Senior Grid Integration Engineer to join their pioneering team, working remotely to support the integration of renewable energy sources into the national grid. This role is paramount in ensuring the stability, reliability, and efficiency of South Africa's evolving energy infrastructure. You will be at the forefront of developing advanced solutions for grid connection, power quality, and system stability, collaborating with a distributed team of experts committed to a sustainable energy future.

• Develop and implement strategies for integrating renewable energy projects (solar, wind) into the national electricity grid.
• Perform grid impact studies, power flow analysis, and short-circuit calculations to assess system performance and stability.
• Design grid connection schemes, including substation layouts, protection settings, and control systems.
• Collaborate with utility operators, project developers, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with grid codes and standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to grid stability, voltage control, and power quality.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in grid technologies, smart grids, and energy storage solutions.

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Power Systems.
• A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in power systems engineering, with a significant focus on grid integration of renewable energy.
• In-depth knowledge of grid codes, power system stability analysis, and protection schemes.
• Proficiency with power system simulation software such as PSS/E, Power Factory DIgSILENT, or PSCAD.
• Experience with energy storage systems and their integration into the grid is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.
