Project Development Engineer, Repowering and Restoration

Location(s)

DEPCOM Power, a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a Project Development Engineer, Repowering and Restoration to join our Services organization. This role supports the pre-sale development of utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) repowering, restoration, augmentation, and modernization opportunities.

The position may be based in Scottsdale, AZ, Bedminster, NJ, or fully remote and will require travel as needed to support customer engagement and site evaluations.

This role does not provide VISA sponsorship.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the pre-sale technical evaluation of solar repowering, inverter replacement, restoration, BESS augmentation, and facility modernization opportunities.
  • Develop economical engineering concepts and replacement strategies, including project Scopes of Work, assumptions, and exclusions, based on customer objectives and RFP requirements.
  • Build and maintain trusted technical relationships with customers by leading technical discussions throughout the opportunity lifecycle.
  • Partner with Business Development, Estimating, and Engineering teams to support account strategy, pricing development, and validation of technical and execution assumptions.
  • Develop technical exhibits and supporting documentation for project proposals and contracts and support customer negotiations as needed.
  • Identify technical, commercial, schedule, and constructability risks early in project development and provide a clear technical handoff to preconstruction and execution teams upon project award.
  • Support customer meetings, site visits, industry conferences, and technical workshops to strengthen customer relationships and identify new opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, OEM technology developments, and market conditions to help ensure competitive and value-creating solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement by developing and refining tools, standards, and templates that increase proposal efficiency and consistency across the organization.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent technical experience supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Working knowledge of utility-scale PV systems, inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), controls, and balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Experience presenting technical recommendations, solutions, or project scopes to customers, project stakeholders, or commercial teams.
  • Experience evaluating technical, commercial, cost, schedule, or execution tradeoffs during project development, engineering, or project delivery activities.
  • Ability to travel as needed for customer meetings, site visits, and technical workshops.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience supporting solar repowering, inverter replacement, restoration, augmentation, or facility modernization projects.
  • Experience working for or with EPC contractors, asset owners, independent power producers (IPPs), utilities, OEMs, or O&M providers.
  • Detailed knowledge of equipment utilized in utility-scale solar and energy storage projects.
  • Experience evaluating legacy equipment and existing electrical systems.

For this role, we anticipate paying $100,000 - $130,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
