Our client is seeking a skilled Upstream Completions Engineer to join their technical team in Soweto . This hybrid role is vital for optimizing well productivity and ensuring the safe, efficient completion of oil and gas wells. You will be responsible for designing, planning, and executing well completion strategies, selecting appropriate completion equipment, and monitoring well performance post-completion. This position requires a strong understanding of reservoir characteristics, completion techniques, and wellbore integrity.
Working collaboratively with drilling and production teams, you will play a key role in maximizing hydrocarbon recovery and ensuring the economic viability of exploration and production assets within the Oil & Gas industry .
- Design and optimize well completion programs, including the selection of completion string components, artificial lift systems, and stimulation techniques.
- Develop detailed completion procedures and contingency plans to address potential operational challenges.
- Oversee and supervise well completion operations on location, ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards.
- Analyze well performance data post-completion to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
- Collaborate with reservoir engineers to ensure completion designs align with reservoir objectives.
- Manage service providers and equipment suppliers involved in completion activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in well completions engineering within the upstream Oil & Gas sector.
- Proven experience with various completion types, including open-hole, cased-hole, and intelligent completions.
- Solid understanding of artificial lift systems (e.g., ESPs, rod pumps, gas lift).
- Familiarity with wellbore integrity, formation damage, and stimulation techniques.
