Our client is seeking an innovative Grid Modernization Engineer to join their forward-thinking team in Centurion. This role is central to enhancing the resilience, efficiency, and intelligence of the electricity grid. You will be involved in the planning, design, and implementation of advanced technologies, including smart grid solutions, distributed energy resources, and advanced metering infrastructure. Key Responsibilities- Analyze existing grid infrastructure and identify areas for improvement and modernization.
- Design and develop specifications for smart grid technologies, automation systems, and SCADA integration.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance grid reliability, efficiency, and energy management.
- Collaborate with utility partners, vendors, and internal teams on the implementation of modernization projects.
- Develop simulation models and perform testing to validate the performance of new grid technologies.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements for grid modernization efforts.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a specialization in power systems.
- 5-10 years of experience in power systems, grid operations, or smart grid technologies.
- Proficiency with grid simulation software and data analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of distributed generation, energy storage, and grid control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to technical challenges.
- Experience with project management principles is advantageous.
