Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their team, working remotely but with operational oversight for facilities near Nelspruit . This crucial role focuses on ensuring the safety and integrity of all oil and gas processing facilities and operations. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing process safety programs, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in process safety management (PSM) principles and regulations within the Oil & Gas industry , ensuring a safe working environment and minimizing operational risks.

• Develop and implement comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs .
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and what-if studies.
• Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and implementation of corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant process safety regulations and industry standards.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to operational personnel.
• Manage mechanical integrity programs and ensure facility safeguards are effective.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector .
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements and risk assessment techniques .
• Experience with incident investigation methodologies and safety management systems.
• Strong understanding of relevant codes and standards (e.g., API, NFPA).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
