Our client is seeking a highly analytical and forward-thinking Remote Mine Planner to join their strategic development team. This is a fully remote position where you will be responsible for designing and optimizing mine plans that ensure efficient resource extraction, long-term economic viability, and compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. You will work with geologists, engineers, and other stakeholders to create detailed short-term and long-term mine schedules, assess operational risks, and propose innovative planning solutions.
This role is ideal for a self-motivated planner who thrives in a remote work environment and possesses a deep understanding of mine planning software and methodologies, contributing to strategic decision-making for global mining operations from any location.
- Develop and optimize short-term and long-term mine plans, considering geological data, equipment capabilities, and operational constraints.
- Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Mine Plan) to generate production schedules, material movement plans, and haul road designs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects and expansions.
- Identify and assess operational risks, proposing mitigation strategies to ensure safe and efficient mining practices.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including geology, engineering, and operations, in a remote setting.
- Stay current with advancements in mine planning technology and methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in mine planning and design, with exposure to various mining methods.
- Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning software packages.
- Strong understanding of mine economics, resource estimation, and production scheduling.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
