Senior Mechanical Engineer - HVAC Design

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC design to join their team in Sandton . This role is responsible for the design, specification, and project management of complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for commercial and industrial buildings. You will work on challenging projects, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with building codes and standards.

• Lead the design and development of HVAC systems, including load calculations, ductwork design, and equipment selection.
• Prepare detailed HVAC design drawings, specifications, and submittals using CAD and BIM software .
• Conduct energy modeling and analysis to optimize system efficiency and sustainability.
• Manage HVAC projects from conceptual design through to construction administration and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, standards (e.g., ASHRAE), and environmental regulations.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers, designers, and project teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in HVAC design and project engineering.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, Trane TRACE).
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and psychrometrics.
• Experience with energy-efficient design strategies and sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED).
• Strong project management and client-facing communication skills.
