Electrical Engineer - Grid Integration

Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer specializing in Grid Integration to join their team in Bloemfontein . This role is central to ensuring the stable and efficient connection of renewable energy sources to the national grid. You will be responsible for the technical design, analysis, and implementation of grid connection solutions, working closely with utility partners and project development teams.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of grid codes, power systems, and the challenges associated with integrating intermittent renewable energy generation into established electricity networks.

• Perform grid interconnection studies, including short circuit analysis, load flow, and stability studies for renewable energy projects.
• Design and specify grid connection equipment, such as transformers, switch gear, and protection relays.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international grid codes and standards.
• Collaborate with grid operators and utility companies throughout the interconnection application and approval process.
• Provide technical expertise and support during the construction and commissioning phases of grid connection infrastructure.
• Analyze grid performance data and identify opportunities for system optimization and reliability improvement.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in grid integration of power generation facilities, particularly renewables.
• Strong knowledge of power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E) and protection schemes .
• Familiarity with the South African grid code and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills for interfacing with diverse stakeholders.
