Process Safety Chemical Engineer

Our client is seeking a meticulous Process Safety Chemical Engineer to join their team in Stellenbosch . This critical role focuses on ensuring the safe design, operation, and maintenance of chemical processes, minimizing risks associated with hazardous materials and operations. You will be responsible for conducting safety assessments, developing safety procedures, and promoting a robust safety culture throughout the organization. • Conduct thorough Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and risk assessments.
• Develop and implement process safety management (PSM) programs and procedures.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Provide technical expertise on process safety design for new projects and modifications.
• Promote a strong safety culture through training and engagement with site personnel in Stellenbosch .

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• Proficiency in conducting PHAs and understanding of safety instrumented systems (SIS).
• Strong knowledge of industry standards like OSHA PSM and EPA RMP.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
