Imagine contributing to projects that help move millions of people every day?

At Siemens Mobility, we're developing innovative transport solutions that are transforming the future of rail and making travel more sustainable. Start your career at the heart of that journey!

Embark on your journey with us, combining hands‑on experience with structured development. Through technical training, apprenticeship development days and mentoring, you’ll built your skills working on meaningful projects. You’ll collaborate with other apprentices across the business, present your achievements and deliver an Apprentice Excellence Project by proposing a change to a business process. You’ll be aligned to a role in the business from day one, giving you clear focus for your development throughout the programme and a permanent role to move into upon successful completion of your apprenticeship.

As an Apprentice, you will be working towards the achievement of an apprenticeship standard, with defined knowledge, skills and behaviour criteria that will be developed throughout your programme with us and your training provider.

This role will align to the LEVEL 4, Telecoms apprenticeship standard.

The anticipated delivery model is block release, with an estimated apprenticeship duration of 48 months. The expected provider for this programme is NTAR.

Siemens Mobility Mobile Communications delivers safe, efficient and reliable mission‑critical systems for transport networks. These systems enable seamless data and voice exchange between vehicles, infrastructure, control centres and passengers, helping keep transport moving smoothly while improving the passenger experience.

Working across development, system testing and project delivery, you will gain experience of the complete lifecycle of our 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G railway radio communication products. This spans the generation of new ideas and requirements through design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.

At Mobile Communications, we manage every aspect of product development and delivery, working closely with customers to ensure successful deployment and long‑term reliability. This provides a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience across the full engineering lifecycle while contributing to mission‑critical communication systems used throughout the Railway industry.

The role is based at our modern offices in New Fields Business Park, Poole. We operate a flexible hybrid working model, enabling a balance between office and home working where business needs allow. Some activities, such as system integration and testing in our laboratory facilities, require regular attendance on site. However, where tasks can be performed remotely, home working is fully supported.

We are committed to flexible working and will normally accommodate individual preferences while meeting the needs of the business.

You‘ll make a difference by:

  • Working on the latest generation of mobile communication products deployed on railway networks around the world and seeing your work.
  • Combine the agility and variety of a specialist engineering team with the opportunities and resources of the wider Siemens organisation.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering
  • Relevant Engineering BTEC or equivalent technical qualification
  • 3x A Levels at C or above in relevant subjects (such as maths, physics and/or engineering)
  • Candidates must have achieved at least a Grade 4/C in GCSE English Language and Maths.
  • Logical thinking, willing to self‑learn and research, and take a creative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work independently, safely and responsibly; take ownership…
