About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Metallurgist to join their global team, contributing expertise to operations near Welkom . This is a fully remote position where you will be instrumental in optimizing mineral processing and recovery operations across various sites. You will analyze metallurgical data, troubleshoot processing challenges, and develop innovative solutions to improve efficiency and yield. The role requires a deep understanding of metallurgical principles, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with site-based teams and management from a distance, driving continuous improvement in metallurgical performance.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze metallurgical test results and operational data to identify areas for process improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize mineral recovery rates and product quality.
- Troubleshoot complex metallurgical issues encountered in pilot plants and commercial operations.
- Provide expert technical guidance and support to plant operations teams remotely.
- Conduct research into new metallurgical technologies and assess their applicability to company operations.
- Prepare detailed metallurgical reports, including process flow diagrams and recommendations.
- Master's or PhD in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 9 years of experience in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy.
- Expertise in comminution, flotation, leaching, and other relevant mineral processing techniques.
- Proficiency in metallurgical simulation software (e.g., METSIM, JKSimMet) is a strong asset.
- Proven ability to manage projects and provide technical leadership in a remote capacity.
- Excellent problem-solving and data analysis skills, with strong communication abilities.
