Junior Civil Drafter - Road Infrastructure

Our client, a growing civil engineering firm focused on local infrastructure development, is seeking an enthusiastic Junior Civil Drafter to join their team in Tembisa, Gauteng . This role is an excellent opportunity for an individual starting their career in civil engineering, providing hands‑on experience in drafting and design support for road and infrastructure projects. You will work closely with experienced engineers and designers, assisting in the creation of detailed technical drawings and plans.

The position involves a hybrid work model, combining essential office‑based collaboration with the flexibility of remote work. We are looking for a meticulous and eager‑to‑learn individual who is passionate about contributing to the built environment and developing their drafting skills.

• Prepare and modify detailed engineering drawings, plans, and schematics for roadworks, drainage systems, and related infrastructure using CAD software.
• Assist senior engineers and designers in the development of design concepts and layout plans.
• Ensure all drawings adhere to company drafting standards, project specifications, and relevant South African National Standards (SANS).
• Create and maintain accurate drawing registers and revision control systems.
• Plot and distribute drawings to relevant parties as required.
• Conduct basic calculations and checks as directed by engineers.
• Support the preparation of tender and construction documentation.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the efficient workflow of the design department.
• Update and manage digital drawing files and databases.
• Learn and apply new drafting techniques and software tools as required.

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; experience with Civil 3D or similar civil‑specific CAD software is highly desirable.
• Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, particularly related to road design and drainage.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting work.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaboration with team members.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills in a professional environment.
• Familiarity with South African drafting standards and practices is an advantage.
• Located in or able to commute to Tembisa, Gauteng for hybrid work requirements.
