** Position Summary**:  This position requires providing conceptual and detailed design of mechanical/piping systems & components used during project execution of industrial plant design.
*
* Supervisory Responsibilities:

*** Mechanical 3D Designer does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
** Duties/Responsibilities:
*** Work with Leadership, Senior Engineers, Engineers, and Senior Designers assigned to lead project work.
* Perform computer aided drafting necessary to create mechanical drawings for the basic and detailed engineering of a Midrex plant, especially to create and support the 3D CAD models used to design Midrex plants.
* Be proficient in the use of computer aided drafting and design software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Aveva E3D and related Autodesk products.
* Take and/or prepare conceptual designs, sketches, and ideas from Engineer’s and Senior Designer’s requirements to develop the details necessary for a complete, engineered drawing capable of being used for purchasing, erection in the field, design analysis, etc.
* Layout of plant equipment, piping, and utility systems in 3D model of plant.
* Perform checking of mechanical drawings for consistency with conceptual ideas, design, sketches, applicable standards, etc.
* Travel to job sites to perform analyses of existing structures, equipment, piping routes, layouts, etc. for use in developing future plans, proposals, etc.
* Travel on business trips and/or field assignments as required to carry out departmental tasks and functions.
* Assist Senior Designers and Engineers by suggesting design changes that might improve the desired results of the design.
* Work as a teammate with all company departments and employees in all assignments. Work toward building consensus on all assignments by finding solutions which meet the best interests of all parties involved.
* Provide support to the Sales and Estimating groups in preparation of proposals, including bulk-material estimates developed from existing models and databases.

* Advanced 3D computer modeling skills including use of Aveva E3D and PDMS products (or equivalent).
* Advanced computer skills including use of Microsoft and Autodesk products.
* Proficient Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and developing lists for engineering.
