Aircraft Structures Engineer

Our client, a leader in aircraft manufacturing and modification, is seeking a talented Aircraft Structures Engineer to contribute to exciting projects from their facility in Upington, Northern Cape . This role embraces a hybrid work model, combining on-site engineering collaboration with flexible remote working arrangements. The Aircraft Structures Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, testing, and certification of aircraft structural components and systems.

This includes performing stress analysis, developing repair schemes, and ensuring structural integrity meets rigorous airworthiness standards. • Design, analyze, and validate aircraft structural components and assemblies.
• Perform stress analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software to ensure structural integrity under various load conditions.
• Develop and document structural repair schemes for in-service aircraft.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant aerospace regulations, airworthiness directives, and company standards.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, testing, and quality assurance teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Participate in structural testing activities and analyze test results.
• Support production by resolving structural-related issues.
• Stay current with advancements in structural engineering materials and methodologies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for structural design processes.

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with a specialization in structures.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in aircraft structural design and analysis.
• Proficiency in using FEA software packages such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or ABAQUS.
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics, materials science, and fatigue and fracture analysis.
• Experience with composite and metallic structures in aircraft applications.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Good communication and teamwork capabilities.
• Willingness to work a hybrid schedule, adapting to both remote and on-site collaboration needs.
• Knowledge of aerospace certification processes is a plus.
