• Lead the architectural design and implementation of large-scale industrial systems, including automation, data acquisition, and control systems.
• Define system requirements, specifications, and performance metrics in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Oversee the integration of new technologies and software solutions into existing industrial environments.
• Develop and implement robust system testing and validation strategies.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams across different locations.
• Analyze system performance data to identify opportunities for optimization, enhancement, and cost reduction.
• Manage system lifecycle, including planning for upgrades, maintenance, and decommissioning.
• Ensure systems meet stringent safety, security, and regulatory compliance standards.
• Contribute to strategic technology roadmaps and long-term system planning.

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of extensive experience in industrial systems engineering, with a significant focus on complex system design and implementation.
• Proven expertise in industrial automation, SCADA/HMI systems, PLCs, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) integration.
• Strong knowledge of data analytics, machine learning, and IoT applications in industrial settings.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large, complex engineering projects, preferably in a remote leadership capacity.
• Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience in the renewable energy or mining sectors would be advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage tasks in a remote setting, with occasional travel required to Upington and other sites.
