Civil Design Engineer - Roads and Highways

This role is perfect for an experienced engineer who is adept at designing complex road networks and highway systems. You will be responsible for all phases of road design, from conceptual planning and feasibility studies through to detailed design, construction documentation, and site supervision support.

• Lead the design of roads, highways, intersections, interchanges, and associated infrastructure.
• Perform geometric design, pavement design, and traffic management planning.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and option analysis for road projects.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents.
• Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MXRoads) and relevant design standards.
• Ensure designs comply with national and provincial standards and client requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including traffic engineers and structural engineers, using digital platforms.
• Provide technical guidance and support during the construction phase remotely.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in road design technology and sustainable practices.
• Contribute to proposal development and client engagement for new projects.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Professional Technologist (Pr. Tech. Eng.) registration with ECSA.
• A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in the design of roads and highways.
• Demonstrated expertise in road design software and principles.
• In-depth knowledge of South African road design standards (e.g., COTO).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills suited for remote work.
• Ability to work independently and manage project deliverables effectively.
• Experience in transportation planning is advantageous.
