Chemical Engineer - Project Management

Our client, a dynamic engineering consultancy specializing in chemical process solutions, is seeking a results-oriented Chemical Engineer with Project Management experience to join their team in Midrand, Gauteng . This role is responsible for managing the lifecycle of chemical engineering projects from conception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, liaise with clients, and oversee all technical aspects of project execution.

• Lead and manage chemical engineering projects, overseeing scope, budget, schedule, and resources.
• Develop detailed project plans, including defining project objectives, deliverables, milestones, and timelines.
• Coordinate and collaborate with internal engineering disciplines, contractors, and external stakeholders.
• Manage client relationships, ensuring clear communication and satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of projects.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Prepare and present project status reports to clients and senior management.
• Manage project documentation and ensure accurate record-keeping.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in chemical engineering, with at least 3 years in project management roles.
• Demonstrated success in managing complex engineering projects from initiation to closure.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMP principles).
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively manage cross-functional teams and client expectations.
• Solid technical knowledge of chemical processes, plant design, and construction.
• Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
