Remote Senior Aviation Safety Officer

Our client, a prominent global aviation organization, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Senior Aviation Safety Officer . This position is designed for a dedicated professional to work entirely from home, focusing on enhancing safety management systems within the aviation sector, potentially overseeing operations related to the Cape Town, Western Cape region. The role involves proactive safety risk management, incident investigation, safety assurance, and the promotion of a strong safety culture across various aviation operations.

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust Safety Management Systems (SMS) compliant with international aviation regulations (e.g., ICAO Annex 19, EASA/FAA standards).
• Conduct thorough safety risk assessments, hazard identification, and develop mitigation strategies for aviation operations.
• Lead and manage incident and accident investigations, ensuring accurate root cause analysis and the implementation of effective corrective actions.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, training, and engagement with operational staff and management.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs tailored to various aviation roles and responsibilities.
• Monitor safety performance indicators (SPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs), reporting on safety trends and potential areas of concern.
• Conduct safety audits and surveys to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational safety standards.
• Advise management on safety policy development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aviation safety regulations, technologies, and best practices.

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, Safety Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in aviation safety management and operations.
• In-depth knowledge of aviation safety regulations, SMS principles, risk management techniques, and accident investigation methodologies.
• Experience with safety reporting systems and data analysis tools.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, & training skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and effectively manage projects remotely.
• Relevant safety certifications (e.g., ICAO Safety Management Systems) are highly desirable.
• Must have a reliable internet connection and a suitable home office environment.
