Senior Automotive Battery Management Systems; BMS) Engineer

Our client, a global leader in electric vehicle technology, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Automotive Battery Management Systems (BMS) Engineer to join their pioneering, fully remote engineering team. This critical role will focus on the design, development, and validation of advanced BMS for high-performance electric vehicles. You will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, longevity, and optimal performance of battery packs.

• Design and develop BMS hardware and software architectures for EV battery packs.
• Develop and implement algorithms for state-of-charge (SoC), state-of-health (SoH), state-of-power (SoP) estimation, and cell balancing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (battery cell engineers, power electronics engineers, software developers) to define BMS requirements.
• Perform system-level modeling, simulation, and analysis of BMS performance and safety features.
• Develop and execute rigorous test plans for BMS hardware and software validation on HIL systems and in prototype vehicles.
• Ensure compliance with automotive safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) and functional safety requirements.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex issues related to battery management and control.
• Contribute to the selection of BMS components and system integration.
• Stay current with advancements in battery technology, BMS control strategies, and automotive industry trends.

• Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Battery Management Systems for automotive applications.
• Strong understanding of battery chemistry (Lithium-ion) and battery pack design principles.
• Expertise in developing BMS algorithms for SoC, SoH, and cell balancing.
• Proficiency with C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Experience with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN).
• Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and their application to BMS.
• Experience with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) and HIL testing.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote, collaborative environment.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
