We are a privately held specialty contractor with 35+ years of history and a reputation for owning our work from design through energization. Our renewable energy division is our largest business, and the overall company is on track toward $1B by end of year. We self-perform as an EPC on ground mount solar, from 1–10 MW distributed generation sites up to 15+ MW utility-scale projects, and we are expanding quickly into battery energy storage.

• Build the function:
  Engineering came in-house about two years ago, and you'll shape the review standards, templates, and lessons learned the team carries forward.
• Ownership:
  You'll lead civil and structural design from preliminary through IFC instead of handing it off.
• Scale and variety:
  You'll work on utility-scale solar sites covering hundreds of acres, plus a growing battery storage portfolio.
• Flexibility:
  The role is remote, with office visits monthly to bimonthly and site trips about twice a year. If you want more field time, it's encouraged.

• Lead civil and structural design on utility-scale solar and BESS projects from preliminary design through IFC and construction, keeping deliverables on schedule
• Review and validate grading, stormwater, drainage, roads, foundations, and racking systems for compliance, constructability, and cost
• Serve as the subject matter expert on civil and structural design, including grading, drainage, roads, foundations, and geotechnical considerations
• Run structured design reviews at 30%, 90%, and IFC milestones
• Find and resolve risks, gaps, and inconsistencies in design packages before they reach the field
• Evaluate design decisions for constructability, installation efficiency, and cost impact
• Give technical guidance to internal teams, external engineering partners, and subcontracted engineers
• Work with engineering, preconstruction, estimating, procurement, and operations on sequencing and cost
• Coordinate with customers, developers, AHJs, and external engineering firms, and support permitting and jurisdictional compliance
• Escalate design risks that affect schedule, cost, or constructability
• Visit sites to verify field conditions, catch what drawings miss, and support field issues during construction
• Review past projects to find what didn’t work and build those lessons into future designs

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent education and experience
• Solar or power systems design experience, ideally on utility-scale ground mount projects
• EPC experience; exposure to both civil engineering firm and EPC environments is a strong plus
• Civil and structural experience: grading, stormwater, drainage, roads, foundations, racking, and geotechnical
• Experience on large sites (hundreds of acres)
• Working knowledge of applicable codes and renewable energy standards
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PVcase, and Microsoft Office
• Accountability for design decisions and an understanding of their downstream impact on cost, schedule, and crews
